COVID-19 Update: How First American is Responding

As the coronavirus situation continues to evolve, we at First American remain committed to supporting the health and safety of our customers, employees, and contractors while providing the most consistent level of service we can in these conditions. With that in mind, we have been closely monitoring the coronavirus developments and have taken appropriate steps to limit potential impacts to our employees, customers and operations. First American has activated long-standing business continuity plans, which include following the appropriate guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO).

Social Distancing and Work-at-Home Practices Implemented

We have implemented social distancing practices across the company, including directing the majority of our employees to work remotely by leveraging at-home workstations and secure network connections. First American has also instituted work-at-home practices in some areas to abide by the direction from local authorities for people to remain in their homes.

Other Steps Taken

We have also asked our service providers to follow CDC guidelines and best practices, including to stay home if they are sick, avoid contact with people who are sick, clean hands often, wear face coverings, and clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and tools.

Requesting Service

We encourage you to sign in to use your Homeowner Center account or use our automated phone system at 800.992.3400 to request service or manage a service request. Registering for a Homeowner Center account only takes a minute or two and you can see how easy it is to request service. This can help us manage your important claims.

While we’re doing our best to provide timely service, there may be delays in some situations. Impacts on manufacturing may also cause delays in obtaining parts and equipment for your service request.

We ask you to also follow guidelines from the CDC and your local health service department and delay your claims if your household is under quarantine or has been exposed to the coronavirus. We appreciate your efforts in protecting yourself and the communities where you live and work.
