Your home warranty can protect systems such as heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and appliances, including your dishwasher, oven, washer, dryer, refrigerator, and more. Now that you know how to find out what your home warranty covers, it’s important to know what typically isn’t covered before you submit a service request.

When a covered item breaks or malfunctions, contact First American online or by phone. You will pay the service fee specified in your contract and provide information about the item and issue, as well as your phone number or email address so we can send you details about your service.

Get a call from a prescreened technician, who’ll set up an appointment to confirm coverage and diagnose the problem with your system or appliance.

The technician will diagnose the issue and determine if the item can be repaired or must be replaced. They will often be able to repair or replace the item the same day. If additional parts or equipment are needed, we will get them as quickly as possible.

If the technician cannot complete the repair or replacement on the first visit, they will schedule a follow-up appointment as soon as they have the parts or equipment. You will not be charged for additional appointments.
